ANNOTATED CHECKLIST OF THE FISHES OF THE BOLIVIAN AMAZONIAN BASIN After a brief review of the bolivian amazonian basin, of the prospected biotopes, the ftshing effort and of the old and new works, the authors present an annotated checklist of the collected ftshes. A total of 389 species are listed. Differences between the four main tributaries of the Upper Madeira river (Beni, Madre de Dios, Mamore and Guapore rivers) are noted. In the Mamore basin which has been the most intensively sampled, 327 species are listed, where Siluriforms (45 %) and Characoidei (39 %) are predominant. In this basin the authors identified a lowland area and an andean area above 200 m, the latter divided into three sub-areas according to the ftsh communities.
