The expression and significant of TSP-1 in peripheral blood monocyte of patients with IgA nephropathy

2014
Objectives To determine the expression of thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) in peripheral blood monocyte of patients with IgA nephropathy by the technique of flow cytometry and to explore the association between fibrosis in renal tissue and TSP-1 expression in peripheral blood monocyte of patients with IgA nephropathy. Methods The data of clinical and renal pathology, including light microscope and immunofluorescence, were studied in 30 patients with biopsy-proven IgA nephropathy. The renal pathology was analyzed according the Oxford classification of IgA nephropathy with double blind. And at the same time,TSP-1 expression in the peripheral blood monocyte were determined by the technique of flow cytometry to calculate the percentage of PST-1 positive cells. Results In the four main pathological index, the positive rates of TSP-1 in peripheral blood monocyte were associated with segmental glomerulosclerosis and segmental glomerulosclerosis, but not mesangial hypercellularity and endocapillary hypercellularity. Conclusions In the patients with IgA nephropathy, the expression of TSP-1 in peripheral blood monocyte may be a clinical index of renal chronic fibrosis.
