A simple adjustment of runtimes between stations for saving traction energy by means of mathematical programming

2012
The authors describe an energy saving train scheduling system based on a linear/nonlinear program that uses an exhaustive mathematical formulation. The formulation fixes the total time between train origin and destination by optimizing the running time for each section between train stations. The optimization formula is called "identical incremental energy consumption." Energy savings were accomplished through the use of this formula.
