Nanosecond and femtosecond laser ablation of pure and Y-doped BSCCO

2011
Laser ablation of BSCCO and 30% Y-doped BSCCO oxide ceramics using nanosecond and femtosecond pulses is performed. Results show that randomly oriented spheroidal particles are inherent to both ablation processes. Femtosecond ablation of Y-doped BSCCO also features rod-like structures and nanoscaled spheres whereas nanosecond ablation produces micron-sized droplets. XRD confirms that femtosecond ablation yields crystalline film even without heat treatment.
