An optosensor based on the fluorescence of metal complexes adsorbed on Chelex 100

1996
Abstract A flow optosensor for A1 3+ , Ga 3+ , In 3+ , Zr 4+ and Hf 4+ based on their ternary complexes with quinolin-8-ol-5-sulfonate and the chelating resin of Chelex 100 is proposed. It was shown that the optosensor can greatly improve the selectivity and sensitivity for determination of these metal ions. Most of the common metal ions did not interfere, except Fe III which caused serious interference and should be masked with 1,10-phenanthroline. The characteristics of the fluorescence and the response mechanism has also been studied.
