A comparative study of Dynamic Economic Load Dispatch (DELD) problem using PSO and IPSO for 24 hours Load Patterns

2020
The economic functioning of the generating systems is always critical in the electricity sector. That is one of the power system's complicated issues. The purpose of the dynamic economic load dispatch should be to determine the best pairing of generators to reduce the system's operating costs, taking into account changes in the everyday load pattern over a given time period. This will attempt to reduce operating costs and fuel consumption, using the suggested solution technique based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) approach to find the optimum solution for the DELD problem. The PSO is designed to determine the optimum generation schedule for all power generation units to deliver output power at the lowest operating costs and fuel consumption while meeting all system constants, such as valve point effects, ramp rate constraint and transmission losses. The simulation is performed throughout a 24-hour time frame with the iteration best PSO (IPSO) on a system of five generating systems, and the results are compared with the standard PSO and rest of the other conventional methods
