NEW NATIONAL THEATRE STATION - RAILWAY TUNNEL IN SOFT CLAY

1999
The paper discusses the alternative solutions considered to secure the excavation to 15 m (49 ft) depth in soft clay along the National Theatre Building for extension of the existing railway tunnel. The selected solutions presented together with results from excavation in terms of displacement of the retaining wall, ground water level measurements and settlements. The measurements are compared with predictions made for the design, and differences are commented upon.
