On the effect of misalignment fading in DF dual-hop hybrid FSO/RF system using MPPM coding method under GG Channel turbulence model
2018
The performance of decode and forward(DF) dual-hop hybrid radio frequency/free space optical (RF/FSO) communication system, that adopts M-ary pulse position modulation (MPPM) techniques, is analyzed. We have extracted exact and estimated values of symbol-error rates (SERs) respectively. The impairements such as misalignment fading, atmospheric turbulence, extinction ratio and transmitted data correlated noise are investigated. Gamma-Gamma (GG) distribution is used to model irradiance’s random fluctuations due to atmospheric turbulence. The probability density function (PDF)’s closed form formula is expressed for our designed system. Therefore, the quality of service’s degradation due to error-pointing is checked. Thanks to the use of DF dual hop hybrid RF/FSO configuration and MPPM, the effects of atmospheric turbulence and misalignment fading is mitigated; hence the capacity of combating atmospheric turbulence and the transmitted signal quality are improved.
