A soft magnetic material and process for its preparation

The invention relates to a soft magnetic material and a method for producing the same. The inventive material is especially suitable for the use in electrovalves. The individual powder particles (11) of a metallic, powdery source component are at least essentially provided with a high-resistance surface layer (12) on the surface thereof and the powder particles (11) are compressed to form the material (10). The surface layers (12) of the powder particles (11) are then at least partially bonded together when the powdery metallic source component is compressed to form the soft magnetic material (10). Bonding is obtained by means of shock-compression.
