Estimation of Realistic Limiting Efficiencies

Knowing the efficiency of a system or device allows estimation of it's capital and operating cost. It is usual to rely on past experience and or rules-of-thumb when predicting efficiency. As is shown in this paper, it is practical in many cases to use simple rational methods to allow estimates of efficiency and it's variation with power.
