Chaotic causal trajectories: the role of the phase of stationary states

Abstract The meaning of the wave function phase in generating chaotic Bohm trajectories is discussed. It is shown for a model problem that Bohmian equations can be cast into the form of Hamiltonian equations perturbed by a time-dependent force. Then the method of Melnikov function is used to prove the existence of chaos. Numerical calculations support additionally our predictions.
