Vicinal Diaryl Triazoles and Tetrazoles

2018
Abstract Triazole-ring-containing compounds occur in nature and are found in several microorganisms, fungi, and marine organisms. Vicinal diaryl triazoles are widely studied for their medicinal properties. They possess a variety of biological and pharmacological properties such as anticancer, anti-inflammatory, COX inhibitory, anti-obesity, antiviral, and antibacterial activity. One of the marketed drugs deferasirox, used as an iron chelator, contains vicinal diaryl triazole. Vicinal diaryl triazoles and tetrazoles were found to be promising moieties for the development of novel compounds for their use as tubulin polymerization inhibitors, COX-2 inhibitors, and CB1 receptor antagonists. These scaffolds can be further harnessed for their potential in the development of newer and better pharmacologically active compounds.
