Gamma ray irradiated AgFeO2 nanoparticles with enhanced gas sensor properties

2014
Abstract AgFeO 2 nanoparticles were synthesized via a facile hydrothermal method and irradiated by various doses of gamma ray. The products were characterized with X-ray powder diffraction, UV–vis absorption spectrum and transmission electron microscope. The results revealed that the crystal structure, morphology and size of the samples remained unchanged after irradiation, while the intensity of UV–Vis spectra increased with irradiation dose increasing. In addition, gamma ray irradiation improved the performance of gas sensor based on the AgFeO 2 nanoparticles including the optimum operating temperature and sensitivity, which might be ascribed to the generation of defects.
