Application of composite insulators in seriously contaminated areas

In this paper, through analyses to the application of composite insulator in the seriously contaminated areas, in the Xinjiang power system, it indicates that using the composite insulator in the seriously contaminated areas is an effective way against contamination flashover. Meanwhile, some problems of the composite insulator existing in service are analyzed and relative solving methods to these problems are put forward.
