Concentration cells with liquid junction

Instead of making the emphasis on undefined or irrelevant local electric potential differences in the cell by the calculation of an emf, as is frequently done, the authors feel that the emphasis should be on the gradients of chemical potential of neutral components of the cell and on how the content of these components is changed by charge transfer.
