Response by cattle grazing sorghum to salt-sulphur supplements
1978
An experiment is reported in which cattle grazed fertilized sorghum x sudangrass. The sodium content of the forage was 0.006-0.014 per cent and sulphur 0.08-0.12 per cent (dry matter basis). Liveweight gain was increased by approximately 200 g head-1 day-1 by the provision of salt blocks containing 18 per cent sulphur (P < 0.01) and to a lesser extent by salt alone.
