The method allows to identify and locate objects distributed along a path from images supplied by at least one camera mounted on a vehicle. the position and orientation of the land vehicle is measured by inertial navigation and GPS registration and each successive object is recognized to locate by comparing the content of the images with a stored library or by pointing to a picture. It continues each recognized object in n successive images supplied by the same camera prediction taking into account the movement of the vehicle, and the position is calculated from the object in the landmark from the position and orientation measures taken at times of of view of successive images and of the position of the object in the images.
