INDUSTRIAL OUTLOOK: HOW TO REDUCE SF6 USE AND EMISSION VARIOUS AGGRESSIVE APPROACHES TO REALIZE LESS SF6 ENVIRONMENT

In Japan, gas insulated equipment has been applied widely in various voltage classes because the equipment can meet the social demands that the huge electric power should be supplied with high reliability to the metropolitan and industrial districts of comparatively restricted areas where very severe environmental conditions are required. The reason for the wide application is due to the superior characteristics of the gas insulated equipment such as realization of downsizing substation, increasing reliability and safety by applying the metal enclosing construction. For these reason, gas insulated equipment, such as circuit breaker (GCB), gas insulated switchgear (GIS) and gas insulated transformer (GIT) have been developed and widely applied.
