2015
The percentage of cesarean sections is rising worldwide. There is clear evidence that there arenegative psychological consequences of caesarean section. Complications such as postpartumdepression or posttraumatic stress disorder are often observed after cesarean section. Child-birth and caesarean section may have a lasting impact on the personality. Must be takenintensive efforts by obstetricians to critically assess the indications for caesarean sectionespecially when is performed for the first time. There is also need to improve the quality ofperinatal care to protect against the negative somatic and psychologic effects of increasing theproportion of cesarean sections.
