Thus, the quality evaluation of these ingredients is fundamental for the obtention of quality assurance products. This paper studied the physical and chemical parameters of Marigold ( Calendula officinalis ) tincture and glycolic extract and yet propolis tincture. It was measured: density, pH, alcoholic grade (of tinctures), dry extract (ES) and total flavonoids, expressed in quercetin (FT), using ultraviolet spectrophotometer (UV). Results showed which the aspect and coloration were divergent among the samples and also between the ES and FT content. In this case we could observe a direct and increasing relation between both. Also, there has been a great variation in the FT determination, especially when the tinctures and its respective glycolic extracts are compared. The glycolic extracts show contents corresponding to 10% of the best tincture. This scenario indicates that the pharmacist must be attentive to the concentration of the pharmaceutical ingredients used in the elaboration of the products, therefore, its identification by official compendiums does not guarantee correspondence with the actual active substances content, being necessary the use of a conversion factor, when substituting tinctures by glycolics extracts. The present paper demonstrates that it is necessary to establish the technical specifications
