Factors Leading to the Acceptance or Rejection of Training Devices.

1972
Abstract : Factors influencing the level of acceptance of 16 complex training devices representing air, surface, and subsurface operations were studied by means of specially developed rating scales and questionnaires. A total of 326 Navy personnel, representing students, instructors, administrators, and maintenance technicians, participated in the study. A composite criterion of trainer acceptance was developed that was comprised of ratings of trainer effectiveness, judged adequacy of simulation, volunteered statements concerning the merits and shortcomings of each trainer, percent utilization, and ratio of hours-used to hours-requested. On the basis of this composite criterion, both highly accepted trainers and trainers with acceptance problems were identified.
