A Comparison of Balloon Soundings and Lidar Scans for Measuring the Height of the Turbulent Mixed Layer at a Coastal Site in Israel

A field experiment was conducted to compare the use of lidar scans and of simultaneous balloon soundings for determination of the height of the turbulent mixed layer. Lidar aerosol maps were analyzed using a simple image processing technique. Measurements from the two approaches are evaluated.
