Enhanced oil recovery and geothermal formulas and calculations

2019
Abstract Enhanced oil recovery is a major branch of petroleum engineering that deals with improved oil recovery of petroleum reservoirs with principles of physics using different techniques. There are several formulas used in enhanced oil recovery in determination of important parameters including but not limited to steam injection rate, oil production rate, displacement efficiency, mobility, as well as the characteristics of reservoir and fluids. This chapter provides a comprehensive list of commonly used formulas in enhanced oil recovery, comprising very simple to relatively more complex formulas that will serve engineers in oil and gas industry as a useful reference. Inputs, outputs, and formulas are outlined clearly along with their units. References are listed for the reader to investigate the subject further where necessary. This chapter features more than 50 formulas in enhanced oil recovery.
