Disease-modifying therapies

2017
A 25-year-old man was evaluated in the neurology outpatient clinic for evaluation of a new diagnosis of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). He was previously well, not taking any medications, and had no allergies. He described a first episode of right optic neuritis 2 years prior that was treated with intravenous methylprednisolone and from which he recovered completely. Three months ago he had a second episode of cervical transverse myelitis that had improved but did not fully resolve. He noted residual weakness and stiffness in his legs at the time of his evaluation.
