Application of Raman spectroscopy to the study of hydrogen in an ion irradiated oxide-dispersion strengthened Fe–12Cr steel

2014
Abstract For the first time, Raman spectroscopy is used to study hydrogen implanted in steels. A Fe–12 wt.%Cr–0.4 wt.%Y 2 O 3 oxide-dispersion strengthened (ODS) steel was irradiated at room temperature in triple-ion-beam conditions (24 MeV Fe 8+ , 1.9 He + and 600 keV H + ions). Using Raman spectroscopy, we successfully measure the hydrogen distribution and the vibration frequency of the H 2 molecule in the irradiated ODS steel.
