The invention discloses a chain saw used for clearing tree branches and belongs to a manual tool. The chain saw used for clearing the tree branches comprises a saw chain and draw cords which are connected to the two ends of the saw chain, wherein the saw chain is formed by universally and movably connecting a plurality of cylindrical saw chain joints with saw teeth; the saw teeth are uniformly arranged on the periphery of each saw chain joint; saw tooth gaps are formed among the saw teeth on the periphery of each saw chain joint; the top ends of the saw teeth of the saw chain joints form the circular external outline. One end of each saw chain joint is a hinge rod with a pin hole, and the other end of each saw chain joint is a hinge fork which is matched with the corresponding hinge rod and is provided with a pin hole, wherein the pin hole of each hinge fork is vertical to the pin hole of the corresponding hinge rod, and after each hinge rod is inserted into the corresponding hinge fork, each hinge rod and the corresponding hinge fork are connected by a hinge shaft. The chain saw is placed on a tree branch, and is pulled to and fro by external force, and the aim of sawing off the tree branch is reached. When a tree barrier is cleared, a worker can keep away from the tree to be cleared, and higher tree branches can be cleared.
