Finite element analysis of a low speed permanent magnets synchronous generator with direct drive

This paper presents the achievements of INCDIE ICPE-CA consisting in the contributions brought to the design of a hydro-generator system capable to extract electric energy using the Danube flow. The considered configuration is a result of an extensive research based on the existing developments mentioned in the scientific literature. The design has addressed a new idea of electric generator in a modular structure having a segmented magnetic circuit and windings placed on the outer side of the electric machine, on the housing, as well as rectangular permanent magnets. The paper plans to create possibilities which are proper to analyze and synthesize the structure of electric synchronous machines with magnets in order to obtain a correct dimensioning.
