Dizygotic twins with simultaneous ileocecal intusussceptions

We report a pair of 18-month-old dizygotic twins who developed acute simultaneous ileocecal intussusceptions. In both of cases a generalized varicella infection preceded the onset of the intussusception by 4 days. Since these twins were not monozygotic, it appears that the viral infection is a more plausible cause of the intussusception than an inherited anatomic predisposition.
