Preparation of Aluminum Nitride Granules by Aqueous Colloidal Process and the Characteristics of the Sintered Body

2006
AlN granules were prepared by an aqueous colloidal process and the characteristics of the sintered body were studied. AlN granules with a low oxygen content were successfully prepared by spray drying of the aqueous slurry with a dispersant mixed at a low temperature. The sintered body prepared by the aqueous process had a high density and a good thermal conductivity, which were almost equal to those prepared by a non-aqueous process. The thermal conductivity of AlN sintered body with 5mass% Y2O3 prepared from aqueous processing was as high as 177W/m·K.
