Sensorless Double-Inverter fed Wound Rotor Induction Motor Drive with Reduced Current Sensors

2018
This paper presents the sensorless vector control strategy for Double Inverter fed Wound Rotor Induction Motor (DI-WRIM) drive with reduced current sensors. This strategy involves two current controllers on the stator side to control the stator currents and a V/F controller on the rotor side to control the rotor supply frequency. The control algorithm requires reduced number of current sensors i.e., the currents of the side on which vector control is employed are only sensed, instead of both the stator and rotor currents. The simulation and the experimental results from a 3 kW WRIM drive are presented to validate the control algorithm.
