Stress corrosion cracking of carbon steel in nuclear component cooling water systems- part 2

2005
This is the second part of a two-part series summarizing the results of a project to determine the root causes of stress corrosion cracking of the carbon steel piping and components that occurred in the component cooling water systems of 14 nuclear units. The project consisted of an international survey of 143 nuclear units, laboratory testing, and a metallurgical examination of failed components. The survey results were summarized in Part 1 of this article (May 2005 MP, p. 52).
