Divergent and Facile Lewis Acid-Mediated Synthesis of N-Alkyl 2-Aminomethylene-1,3-indanediones and 2-Alkylamino-1,4-naphthoquinones.

Cycloaddition of 1,4-naphthoquinone with alkyl azides followed by TmsOTf-mediated fragmentation of the intermediary cycloadducts provides the title compounds (III) and (IV) in a one-pot manner.
