X-Ray Lasing in a Muon Catalyzed Fusion System

When an energetic negative muon enters a dense DT target it initiates the chain of reactions: (a) stopping and capture of p into atomic levels of deuterium and tritium. (b)μ transfer from the duterium to the tritium which can occur both from excited and from the ground state of dμ. (d) Nuclear fusion of dt (the capital letters D and T denote the deuterium and tritium atoms while the small letters denote the nuclei). The muon is either released or captured by the nuclear fusion products (sticking).
