CATECHOLAMINE RESPONSE TO SHORT-TIME STRESS IN SCHIZOPHRENIC AND DEPRESSIVE PATIENTS

ABSTRACT The stress response of 12 schizophrenics, 10 depressives and 29 controls was registrated simultaneously with biochemical (NA, A) and physiological parameters. Having higher basic levels schizophrenics showed a diminished or paradoxical NA response as compared to controls. Depressives showed higher A levels and a significantly lower NA/A ratio.
