Gene expression profiles differ between families of rainbow trout following a viral infection

Our results show that difference in resistance to infection with VHS virus is associated with differences in gene expression profiles. This genetic variation indicates that it is possible to breed for increased resistance in rainbow trout. We need further analyses of the function of gene products to understand the mechanisms that confer resistance in rainbow trout to VHS and other diseases.
