Interpretation Method of Backward Transient Scattered Electric Field by a Metal Cylinder Covered with a Lossless Medium Layer

We propose a novel interpretation method of a backward transient scattering by a two-dimensional (2-D) coated metal cylinder which is made of a metal cylinder covered with a lossless dielectric layer. A time-domain (TD) asymptotic-numerical solution (TD-ANS) is used for calculating of a backward transient scattered electric field. The TD-ANS is valid in understanding backward transient scattering phenomena because it can interpret analytically inversion phenomena of pulse wave components of which a response waveform is composed. The accuracy and validity of the TD-ANS are confirmed by comparing with a reference solution.
