Gastos com internações hospitalares por doenças relacionadas à inatividade física no Brasil

2020
Objective: To describe spending on hospital admissions due to diseases related to physical inactivity (IFR) in Brazil in 2018. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study, whose data source was the Hospital Information System of the Unified Health System (SIH/SUS) in 2018. Results: Hospitalizations due to DRIF generated an expense of R$ 1.436.896.691,00 for SUS, representing 10,49% of the expenditure with all hospitalizations. Diseases of the circulatory system caused an expense of R$ 1.104.707.722,68; hospitalizations for breast and colon cancer promoted expenses of R$ 139.028.192,79 and R$ 100.418.450,53, respectively, and hospitalizations for diabetes mellitus demanded R$ 92.679.325,08 from public coffers. Conclusion: Expenses with hospitalizations for diseases related to physical inactivity denote the need to reorient public policies, especially health promotion, because the increase in physical activity can contribute to the reduction of spending on hospitalizations and allow the reallocation of resources for other health actions.
