Position based energy-efficient clustering protocol under noisy environment for sensor networks using fuzzy logic technique
2014
A wireless sensor network (WSN) consist of spatially distributed self-sufficient sensors nodes. Clustering is one of the powerful approaches for maximizing the life time of a wireless sensor network. Data transmission in sensor node needs a cluster head which act as a coordinator to transmit data to the destination. Energy is the main bottleneck for wireless sensor networks and it has dominating effects on network lifetime. The proposed protocol Position Based Energy-Efficient Clustering Protocol under Noisy Environment for sensor Networks using Fuzzy Logic Technique is used for efficient cluster head selection and discovery of optimum route for data transmission. A fuzzy logic controller is designed for determining Noise, Residual energy and distance for cluster head selection and position based technique is for optimum route selection. The protocol improves the performance of a network by selecting best cluster heads for forwarding the data packet to base station and increasing network life time. 1 Each node consists of limited resources such as power. So the careful resource utilization is required to prolong the network efficiency. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and increase the network scalability, sensor nodes can be organized into clusters. Clustering is useful in WSN to decrease the total energy loss inside the network by permitting only some of the selected nodes to take contribution in the data transmission directly to destination (base station). Thus increase better resource utilization, and improve power control. These nodes are cluster head in particular cluster to collect the data packets from the nodes in its cluster to transmit to base station. The selection of cluster head is based on available energy level of the node. The decision for a sensor to become a cluster head is independent of other sensor. The cluster head are selected from the network based on probability of optimal cluster. As LEACH depends on probability model, some of the cluster head may be very close to each other thereby inefficient cluster head degrade the energy efficiency. The life time of network depend on efficient selection of cluster head. To overcome this problem the Fuzzy Logic concept of cluster head selection method is proposed. The proposed protocol consists of two important parameters for the selection of cluster-head and for the route discovery. The proposed protocol consists of two models such as
