Confianza en el Congreso y opinión pública: el caso mexicano

2018
Lack of confidence in democratic institutions can cause citizens to “bet” on a return to an authoritarian regime. In Mexico, how much does the citizen trust Congress, compared to other institutions? And, most importantly, what determines citizen confidence in Congress? With a database of Barometer of the Americas (lapop, 2014) including 1 100 observations, this article uses ordinary least squares (ols) models and finds that the main determinants of confidence in Congress are the attitude of the citizen toward democracy as a form of government and his perception of corruption among public officials.
