First Report on Botanical Character and Biological Identity and Seed Production Technique of Alfalfa

An experiment was carried out about the botanical character and biological identity of alfalfa. The results showed that alfalfa had terete taproot,erect or ramp stem,little fluff and deep green. The Leaflet was oval,and the leaf color was middling. The pod was single or both spiral. the average grain number per pod was 7.6. The seed was reniform,yellow and tan,thousand seed weight 2.159g.the Crude protein of first blossom was 21.80%.The chilling tolerance and high yield of grass in alfalfa. The alfalfa planting row space 0.7m,planting distance 0.25m,seeding rate per hole 3.0kg/hm2,the seed yield was 1067.6kg/hm2.
