Trousseau's test in the diagnostic value of subclavian artery stenosis

2009
Objective To evaluate Trousseau's test in the diagnostic value of subclavian artery stenosis. Methods Examining declining range of blood flow velocity (DRBFV) and recovery time of blood flow velocity (RTBFV) during systolic period of vertebral artery in 38 cases of SAS and 37 controls by TCD combining Trousseau's test. Results After Trousseau's test, the DRBFV were increased and the RTBFV were prolonged significantly in SAS groups compared with those of systolic vertebral artery in controls, which are related to the stenosis degree of SAS. Conclusion TCD combining Trousseau's test can improve the veracity in the diagnosis of SAS and evaluate the stenosis degree. Key words: Subclavian artery stenosis;  Transeranial doppler;  Trousseau's test
