Effect of Specimen Geometry on the Plane Strain Mechanism of the Uniaxial Tensile Testing of the C-Mn Steel

2011
This research aims to study the effect of shape and geometry of the specimen in uniaxial tensile test to show the mechanism of plastic deformation especially plane strain analysis in C-Mn steel sheets. Some geometry of specimens that have been developed by previous researchers are also used in conjunction with the jigs that have been developed, to obtain the best form and geometry of specimen to show the mechanism of deformation in plane strain that occurs. Four specimen geometries have been selected, and based on this study, three specimens were able to show the plane strain analysis of plastic deformation mechanism up to the value of the maximum on tensile strength.
