Time-gated FROG: a new technique for studying the buidup of optical pulse field in mode-locked ultrafast lasers

The amplitude and phase of the evolving optical pulse field during the buildup of mode- locked pulses in ultrafast lasers are measured for the first time by combining time-gating and FROG techniques.
