REDUCING BOIL-OFF ON MEMBRANE TYPE LNG CARRIERS

The boil-off rate of membrane type LNG carriers can be reduced by introducing a vacuum inside the insulation. Investigations carried out on a laboratory scale agreed well with trial results in a test tank and on a ship and showed that boil-off reductions of up to 25% are possible.
