Emission Models and Tools

2004
Air quality monitoring and modelling is a key element of foresighted action under conditions of global change. Good quality emission data are a prerequisite for a number of EU directives and other international agreements. In particular, they are needed for the Kyoto Protocol to the UNFCCC, the European Climate Change Programme ECCP, and for the UNECE Convention on Long Range Transboundary Air Pollution, CLRTAP, and its protocols. In order to assess data ranges and uncertainties, data quality has to be known. This is not only important because of the use of emission data as input to atmospheric dispersion modelling, but as well as compliance with emission ceilings (NEC Directive, Gothenburg Protocol, Kyoto targets) has to be assessed.
