Total care demands physician involvement

1993
There is no generic substitution for a physician when it comes to total patient care. The issue isn9t asking a nurse to do a doctor9s job. The real issue is providing patients with more and better primary-care services, and it is up to doctors and nurses, working together, to make that happen. The answer is to put more doctors and nurses to work as teammates, bringing patients the kind of cost-efficient, comprehensive care that comes from collaborative practice.
