Synthesis and microbiological activity of novel quaternary ammonium compounds with naphthyl spacer

A series of novel bispyridinium salts based on a 2,7-dioxinaphthyl spacer were synthesized and studied. Most of the obtained structures showed stronger biological activity against five strains of bacteria and two fungi comparable to modern biocides, which are widely used in the pharmaceutical market.
