Magnetic and thermal properties of amorphous CeAu and CeCu alloys

1981
Abstract Magnetic and specific heat measurements of the amorphous alloys Ce 80 Au 20 and Ce 72 Cu 28 show that their properties are dominated by random crystalline anisotropy. Below the magnetic ordering temperatures T C = 1.7 K and 1.5 K the magnetic specific heat varies as C = aT + bT 3 . This is interpreted in terms of single-ion and collective excitations.
