Prevalence and antibiotic resistance of Helicobacter pylori in 229 cases of chronic gastritis patients.

2009
Objective To reveal the prevalence and antibiotic resistance of Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori) in chronic gastritis patients.Method Endoscopicbiopsy specimens were cultured for H.pylori, and the isoalted strains of H.pylori were tested for antibiotic resistence by disk diffusion method.Result 97 strains of H.pylori were isolated from 229 cases of patients with chronic gastritis. The positive rate of culturable H.pylori was 42.36%(97/229),consisted of the male of 43.79%(67/153) and female of 39.47%(30/76).The incidences of antibiotics resistance of 92 H.pylori strains to metronidazole, clarithromycin, amoxicillin, furazolidone, azithromycin, levofloxacin were 8.7%,7.6%,1.1%,1.1%,4.4% and 0% respectively. Conclusion The H.pylori infection rate was high in chronic gastritis patients, while it has no relation to age and gender. The strains from chronic gastritis patients were sensitive to commonly used antibiotics.Levofloxacin, amoxicillin and furazolidone were suggested to be used for H.pylori related chronic gastritis treatment.
