INVESTIGATION OF REFRACTORIES FOR USE IN THE EXTRACTION OF HIGH MELTING POINT METALS

1955
Calcined dolomite has been used for the calcium reduction of vanadium trioxide and thorium tetrachloride. Its disadvantages are impurities in the natural material ease of hydration. The effect of zirconia additions to calcium oxide on the rate of hydration has been studied, and a comparison made between the thermal shock resistance of calcium zircorate and other refractories used for bomb linings.
